Dekranasda Collaborates with Batik Indonesia Foundation to Support Jakarta Batik Craftsmen

Jakarta National Handicraft Council (Dekranasda) under Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency cooperates with Indonesia Batik Foundation to hold Batik Exhibition at Rumah Yayasan Batik Indonesia, Jalan Cikatomas I No. 15, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Friday (8/7).

It is a challenge for craftsmen to be productive amid of the pandemic, especially in promoting their products

As many as 14 Jakarta craftsmen showed their superior batik products featuring Jakarta's batik pattern. This exhibition was carried out by Batik Indonesia Foundation to promote batik throughout Indonesia, one of them is Jakarta, from July 27 to August 7, 2020.

In this activity, Jakarta craftsmen were expected to learn how Batik Indonesia Foundation approaches its customers, for example through product quality approach, market segmentation, branding, making the, characteristic of the product, and overcoming problems in production.

"It is a challenge for craftsmen to be productive amid of the pandemic, especially in promoting their products. Thank you to Batik Indonesia Foundation for giving opportunity to collaborate in promoting our craftsmen's work. Hopefully, in the future, Jakarta Dekranasda can continue this collaboration," conveyed Fery Farhati, Head of Jakarta Dekranasda in a written statement received by beritajakarta.id.

In this exhibition, Jakarta craftsmen displayed batik clothes with Jakarta's pattern which packed based on their brand's characteristic. They displayed various items, starting from batik clothes to batik accessories.

Jakarta craftsmen who participated in this exhibition, namely: Cany Khalid, Denta Betawi, Batik Marunda, Firdaus Batik, Firdaus Galery, PC Style Karya Siswa SMK 58, Batik Gandaria, Batik Enny, Batik Harni, Mejikuhibiniu, Klambi Abite, Nanny Fashion, Gusbeisaekung, and Alini. Up to this day, their income reached Rp 60 million from selling their products. The exhibition was held while maintaining strict health protocols, safe distancing, and limiting the visitors.
