24 Drivers Netted on First Day of Official Odd-even Policy

The Jakarta Police traffic unit has begun ticketing and fining motorists who violate the expanded odd-even license plate number policy after it officially comes into effect on Monday (8/10).

Today we have ticketed 24 drivers

On the first day of the sanction, most violators are from outside Jakarta. They are netted on Jalan MT Haryono, Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jalan Ahmad Yani and Jalan Pramuka.

East Jakarta Police Traffic Unit Head, Sr. Comr. Telly Bahute said, even though socialization had been intensified last week, there were still found violators in the field. To conduct ticketing, his side had alerted 10 officers supported by East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency members at each point.

"Today we have ticketed 24 drivers," he expressed, Monday (8/10).

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Supervision and Control Division Head Riku Erwinda added, to optimize supervision, as many as 40 officers had been alerted who were divided to two shifts, 6 AM to 10 AM and spread to Jalan MT Haryono, Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jalan Ahmad Jani and Jalan Pramuka.

"Our duty is monitoring, and the ticketing lies in the police," he stated.
