256 People Punished for Not Wearing Masks in North Jakarta

In the future, we will impose a progressive fine for residents who commit repeated violations

The North Jakarta Satpol PP says as many as 256 residents have been netted after violating the health protocol and have collected administrative fines amounting to Rp 29.6 million during August 14-24.

According to Purnama, Division Head of Civil Servants and Control for North Jakarta Satpol PP, those netted were subject to fines ranging from Rp 50,000-250,000.

"We see the arguments and situations of the violators. But the point is that fines are applied to give a deterrent effect," he expressed, Tuesday (8/25).

He added his personnel in six sub-districts routinely monitored a number of locations prone to crowds, neighborhood roads to main roads. As a result, 256 people were subject to administrative fines and 2,707 others were subject to social work sanction for not wearing masks.

"In the future, we will impose a progressive fine for residents who commit repeated violations of up to Rp 500,000," he stated.
