As many as 4,000 prone to fall trees alongside protocol roads and around settlements in West Jakarta have been pruned by local Parks Sub-Department since January until September. It is conducted to anticipate collapsed trees caused by strong wind and heavy rain, especially since rainy season will come soon, and provide safety for motorists.
The trees were pruned because they had grown high and their branches jutting down onto the road
Head of Lanes Section for West Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Kadirun, said the pruning is focused on Jalan Daan Mogot, Jalan Kyai Tapa, Jalan S Parman, Jalan Tubagus Angke, Jalan Kedoya Raya, Jalan Kedoya Selatan, Jalan Bangun Nusa Raya, both sides of Jalan Outer Ring Road Kembangan, Jalan Peta Selatan, Jalan Puspa Raya, Jalan Angsana Raya, and Jalan Panjang Kebon Jeruk.
“The trees were pruned because they had grown high and their branches jutting down onto the road. Trees pruning is a form of our maintenance. In the near future, we also plan to prune the trees in Palmerah, Bandengan, and Joglo areas,” he stated, Thursday (10/16).
