Anies Attends at Metro Jaya Police's Mask Campaign Event

Jakarta Governor, Anies Basweden attended event called the Simultaneous Mask Distribution, a Campaign to Maintain Safe Distance and Avoid Crowds at Law Enforcement Operation in Using Mask Towards a Safe, Peaceful, and Healthy Regional Election (Pilkada) 2020 at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Thursday (9/10).

This event was also attended by Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Pol Gatot Eddy Pramono; BUMN Minister, Erick Thohir; KPU Chairman, Arief Budiman; BNPB Chairman, Doni Monardo; as well as PBNU Chairman, KH. Said Aqil Siradj.

He appreciated the event which initiated by Metro Jaya Police in a form of campaign to protect people from COVID-19 outbreak by involving components from government, police, and community through public figures.

"When facing an outbreak, there are two components, the state and society. In the other hand, we also face massive economic, social, religious, and political activities. Therefore, let us conveyed our appreciation since today's activity reminds us the importance of using mask," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID press release, on Thursday (9/10).

In this mask campaign, his side also conveyed that using mask continuously indeed uncomfortable, especially for those who often have outdoor activities. However, the discomfort feeling is still better than being exposed to COVID-19.

"Wearing mask is indeed uncomfortable, but it is better than being exposed to COVID-19. Thus, we need to support this mask campaign. We need someone who is known to public to deliver message about the importance of wearing mask for everyone's safety," he asserted.

He also reminded the importance of wearing mask, even though we know the person that we are talking to, but most of transmission cases occurred from those who are closest to us.

"Usually, when we don't know each other, we wear mask, but once we get to know each other, we take off our mask. On public transportation, we wear mask, but at work, since we are familiar with our colleagues, we take off our mask. The discipline in wearing mask must be carried out continuously. This event shows our seriousness," he stated.
