LH Agency Launches Bioconversion Using Maggot in Tidung Island

Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency Head, Andono Warih launched bioconversion process using maggot at the Tidung Island temporary garbage disposal (TPS), South Thousand Islands.

Maggot house is expected to optimize waste management

According to him, bioconversion process using maggot can simplify organic waste management in order to reduce waste volume in Tidung Island.

"Maggot house is expected to optimize waste management," he added, Sunday (9/13).

LH Sub-agency Builds Another Maggot House at Kelapa Island

Thousand Islands Environment Sub-agency Head, Djoko Rianto Budi Hartono stated, bioconversion's benefit is only to simplify organic waste management but also to give economic advantage for the locals since it can be used to make compost.

"We hope Thousand Islands can solve the waste problem in the land itself," he asserted.

Similar thing also conveyed by Tidung Island Urban Village Head, Hafsah that considered maggot house installation can be a solution for organic waste problem in the island while making it easier for local residents to earn additional income.

"Hopefully it can be a solution by reducing waste from the source," he said.

This launching event was continued with monitoring the maggot house, El-box, and other waste management infrastructure in Tidung Island, Harapan Island, Kelapa Island, and Pramuka Island.
