City Closes Several Buildings After New COVID-19 Cases

We have to do it, as some employees exposed to coronavirus and it must be sterilized

Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily shut several office buildings after a positive case of COVID-19 was found. This condition forces employees to work from home for three days.

Jakarta Regional Employment Agency (BKD) Head Chaidir revealed it was compliance with Gubernatorial Regulation number 88/2020 on PSBB.

Ten Jakarta Workplaces Shut Down Temporarily on First Day of PSBB

He mentioned the office buildings were closed, as they should be sterilized with disinfectant. Those buildings were Block G, Abdul Muis Technical Agency Office, Central Jakarta Tax Sub-agency Office, West Jakarta Mayor Office, South Jakarta Mayor Office, Health Agency Office (COVID-19 post service is still open), Jatibaru Technical Agency Office and Gambir Sub-district Office.

"We have to do it, as some employees exposed to coronavirus and it must be sterilized. That's why we instruct our employees to work from home. We also do tracing close contacts of our employees who have tested positive for COVID-19," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Friday (9/18).

According to the regulation number 88/2020, article 9 paragraph (2) f, reads:

'Office leaders who temporarily restrict work activities at the workplace are required to temporarily stop activities at the office for at least 3x24 hours if a worker is found exposed to the coronavirus.

'During lockdown, disinfection and close contact tracing of employees who confirmed positive for coronavirus must be carried out. It is to break the chain of transmission and in the future thus employees are more disciplined in implementing health protocols.

When the case is detected, the office will be temporarily suspended for 3x24 hours. Afterwards, employees can return to work from the office with the maximum number of people attending is 25 percent at the same time and place, with time in the office also being limited.

"Based on the newest Employment Decree, work activities in the office start at 8 AM to 1:30 PM. It is also to minimize transmission in the office," he explained.

In this regulation, efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the location and the workplace or office carried out regularly during the PSBB period, in the following ways:

1. Cleaning the workplace environment;

2. Disinfecting floors, walls, and workplaces; and

3.  Closing access to unauthorized parties.

Therefore the city government also once again called on the offices, either government or ministries or the private sector to participate in implementing the provisions in the regulation.

They also urged residents to be more active in increasing their immunity by consuming healthy food and drinks, as well as always implement 3M protocols (wearing masks properly, washing hands with soap, and maintaining physical distancing) at home or in public.
