At least 200 joint personnel of Jakarta Environment (LH) and Water Resources (SDA) agencies have been alerted to transport waste at Manggarai Sluice Gate, Central Jakarta. 54 trucks also have been sent to the location.

We have anticipated this by alerting officers at that location for 24 hours

"We have three heavy equipments with a total transport of about 68 rites. In total we have picked up 1,689 cubic meters," expressed Jakarta LH Agency Head, Andono Warih, Tuesday (9/22).

These equipments began to operate moving garbage and debris from the river body to trucks since 2 AM. As for the transportation of waste from the sluice gate emplacement was still being carried out until now.

Inundation in Several Areas in Jakarta Has Gradually Receded

"If we don't do this, the sluice gate will be clogged and water will overflow to the surface causing flooding. We have anticipated this by alerting officers at that location for 24 hours. Since early morning, they have been active in removing waste," he said.
