KPKP Agency Holds Free Animal Vaccination and Sterilization This Month

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency is collaborating with veterinarians, practitioners and animal-loving communities in Jakarta providing free mass sterilization and vaccination services.

During PSBB, we compiled and issued standard operating procedures (SOP) for the implementation of rabies vaccination and animal sterilization

According to Darjamuni, Agency Head of Jakarta KPKP, the activities carried out during September were in a bid to welcome World Rabies Day on September 28. His side targeted to sterilize 547 animals and to vaccinate 910 animals.

His agency decided to involve 13 animal clinics in Jakarta in providing services to pet owners. The clinics had a practice permit issued by the Jakarta Veterinary Doctors Association (PDH).

"They make their own schedule, publish on their respective social media. We have agreed to recruit patients or clients from them. We are monitoring and the report is submitted to us," he told, Wednesday (9/23).

He explained it was carried out by limiting the number of clients and patients each to a maximum of five clients and 10 patients per day.

"During PSBB, we compiled and issued standard operating procedures (SOP) for the implementation of rabies vaccination and animal sterilization. We make sure there are no crowds during the service, we won't serve those who break the rules," he stressed.

Besides welcoming World Rabies Day, it was also to maintain the title Jakarta is Rabies Free.

"Besides focusing on handling coronavirus, while there are other strategic infectious animal diseases that can transmit it to humans. That's why we're still preparing activities to keep Jakarta Rabies Free," he stated.
