KPKP Department Examines 2,884 Animals Affected by Flood

As many as 2,884 flood victims' pets were examined by Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Department to ensure its health.

Door-to-door service will be optimized

KPKP Department Head, Darjamuni mentioned, pets consist of 225 dogs, 1,451 cats, 13 civets, 7 monkeys, and 1 rabbit. Besides, his side also examined 603 cows and 581 goats/sheep.

"We open animals health post in various locations in five municipalities. These animals are from 214 locations that affected by flood," he said, Monday (1/13).

January-Early December, 6,736 Animals in South Jakarta Vaccinated

According to him, immune system of animals affected by flood can get worse if it is not treated well and it is potential to cause diarrhea, flu, and fungal disease.

"Door-to-door service will be optimized. Once we got information about urban villages affected by flood, we immediately went there," he asserted.

In this service, his side not only provides vitamin and rabies vaccination for animals, but also distributes pet food, vitamin, fungal medicine, and eye ointment to the pet owners based on the needs.

"We collaborate with donors from animal lover communities, companies, and individuals to provide aid for the pet owners," he conveyed.
