Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency together with SDA Sub-agencies in all Jakarta regions intensified Grebek Lumpur activity as an effort to anticipate inundation and flooding in rainy season.

This program is carried out to improve capacity of channels, rivers, and reservoirs thus it can prevent inundation in rainy season

Jakarta SDA Agency Head, Juaini conveyed Grebek Lumpur program has been started since March from micro scale which carried out by SDA Units and local residents to macro scale which used heavy equipment for mud dredging work in rivers, channels, and reservoirs.

"This program is carried out to improve capacity of channels, rivers, and reservoirs thus it can prevent inundation in rainy season," he explained, Wednesday (9/30).

It was similar with micro channel and connecting (phb) channel cleaning work which conducted by personnel and local residents at RW 01, Kota Bambu Utara Urban Village, West Jakarta on Monday (9/28). From this activity, personnel collected 500 sacks full of mud sedimentation and garbage from channels in 6 RTs.

As well as mud dredging conducted by Serbang Urban Village Water Resources (SDA) Unit, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Channel as long as 550 meters on Jalan Taruna V, RW 03, Serdang Urban Village, was cleaned from mud sedimentation on Monday (9/28).

Kemayoran SDA Unit Head, Supriyadi said that in a day his side collected 120 sacks full of mud sedimentation from 350-meter channel on the location.

"After drained the mud, SDA unit transported it using KDO truck to Ancol PLTU, North Jakarta. We predict this mud dredging work to finish in October," he stated.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency personnel also conducted mud dredging in Cipinang River, Cipinang Muara, East Jakarta on Sunday (9/27). Personnel used heavy equipment to add river's capacity thus it can be functioned optimally to accommodate rainwater.

Furthermore, his side also repaired water channels at RT 03/01, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands on Saturday (9/26).
