Welcoming the 2014 Jakarta Marathon which falls on Sunday (10/26), several protocol roads and inner city toll road will be closed starting 4 AM until 12 PM. In addition, the operational of some TransJakarta bus corridors will also be stopped temporarily.

“Yes, during Jakarta Marathon several road lanes will be closed and the operational of TransJakarta bus corridors will be stopped and have their routes shortened,” stated Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, Thursday (10/23).
The route of Jakarta Marathon will start and end at Silang Monas Barat Daya. In details, from Silang Monas Barat Daya towards Jalan Budi Kemuliaan, Jalan Abdul Muis, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan, Jalan Kunir, Jalan Lada Dalam (Sejarah Jakarta Museum), Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Juanda, Jalan Pos (Pasar Baru), Istiqlal Mosque, Jalan Veteran, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Rasuna Said, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jalan Gerbang Pemuda, Jalan Asia Afrika, Senayan Plaza, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Jalan Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, then return again to Silang Monas Barat Daya.
Culture Festival to Enliven Jakarta MarathonHere are the traffic diversions applied during Jakarta Marathon:
- Vehicles from Jembatan Lima-Asemka will be diverted to Jalan Perniagaan-Tubagus Angke Flyover;
- From Penjagalan-Asemka, diverted to Jalan Perniagaan-Tubagus Angke flyover or turn left on Jalan Perniagaan-Pintu Kecil;
- From Pangeran Jayakarta-Beos, directed to Jalan Pinangsia Timur-Mangga Besar;
- From Gunung Sahari through Jalan RA Kartini, rerouted to Jalan Karang Anyar Utama;
- From KH Hasyim Azhari-Gajah Mada, diverted to Jalan Cideng Timur or Jalan Sanghaji;
- From Kyai Caringin-Harmoni, directed to Cideng Barat and Cideng Timur;
- From Jatibaru-Abdul Muis or Kebon Sirih, diverted to Jalan Cideng Timur or KH Mas Mansyur;
- From Jalan Samanhudi-Jalan Hayam Wuruk, diverted to Pecenongan-Jalan Juanda-Jalan Pos, or turn back to Gunung Sahari;
- From Kwitang-Jalan Thamrin or Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, rerouted to Jalan Ridwan Rais-Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan-Jalan Agus Salim, or turn back to Doorbrak Gramedia Kwitang towards Senen;
- From Jalan S Parman-Jalan Gatot Subroto, diverted to Jalan KS Tubun or Jalan Palmerah and Pejompongan;
- From Jalan Satrio-Jalan Sudirman, straightened to Karet Flyover-Jalan Mas Mansyur;
- From Casablanca or Jalan Satrio-Jalan Rasuna Said, straightened to Casablanca flyover on both directions;
- From Jalan Galunggung-Jalan Sudirman, straightened to both directions;
- From Jalan Diponegoro-Jalan Imam Bonjol, directed to Jalan Madiun-Jalan Halimun-Jalan Sultan Agung-Jalan Diponegoro-Jalan Cik Ditiro;
- From Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto and Jalan Samratulangi-Jalan Imam Bonjol, diverted to the left of Jalan Sutan Syahrir;
- From inner-city toll road on the east-west side and exit in front of Cakra, directed to exit in front of MPR/DPR building.
For the operational of TransJakarta bus:
- Corridor I (Blok M-Kota) will be closed totally from 5-11 AM. Then at 11 AM, the bus operated again but its route will be shortened and only serve Harmoni-Kota route;
- Corridor II (Harmoni-Pulogadung) will also be shortened and only serve Senen-Pulogadung route starting 10 AM.
As for the inner-city toll road, several gates will be closed at 6 AM-12 PM. The gates to be closed are Pancoran entrance, Kuningan/Mampang exit, Kuningan entrance, Semanggi/City Police exit, and Senayan entrance (from Cawang), as well as Semanggi entrance and Pancoran/Pasar Minggu exit (from Grogol).
“Since the event is on Sunday, the traffic is relatively not too dense. Thus, the motorists can still pass on parallel road. We’ll deploy 300 officers to regulate the traffic in the field, especially at intersections, so they could give information to the passing motorists,” uttered Akbar.
