Rp 4 Billion Prepared for 700 PMKS in West Jakarta

As an effort to alleviate problems related to People with Social Welfare Issues (PMKS), West Jakarta Social Sub-Department allocates budget as much as Rp 4 billion in the 2014 City Budget (APBD). Later, the fund will be converted into productive economic aid for PMKS who have been guided in social institutions.

“We have prepared Rp 4 billion for 700 PMKS, especially West Jakarta residents who were netted by the officers. The budget is still in auction process, but the plan is confirmed could be realized by the end of this year,” stated Head of West Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Ika Yuliani, Thursday (10/23).

According to Yuliani, her department has had the data of the candidate who would receive the aid. But, instead of getting cash money, the recipients will get goods worth Rp 3-4 million that fit their businesses.

“We will not give them money, but we’ll give them goods. So, the benefit and target are clear. For example, the PMKS want to sell voucher, we provide small display along with the voucher,” she explained.

Moreover, West Jakarta Social Sub-Department will also cooperate with companies in the municipality for the continuation of PMKS’ businesses. Those companies will provide guidance for a year, so the PMKS could still run their businesses.

“Business is not directly sale able, it needs process. We will give guidance for at least a year until they (PMKS) can run their businesses independently,” she uttered.
