PMKS Handling, City Signs MoU with City Police

Jakarta Provincial Government keeps improving to handle the existence of social welfare issues (PMKS). According to Dept. of Social Affair's data, there are 81 prone areas of PMKS in five regional of Jakarta.

The PMKS usually hung in some location such as at interception or traffic light. "There are 48 areas of PMKS, and we keep decrease the number from year to year," said Masrokhan, Head of Dept. of Social Affair, Monday (9/29).

Masrokhan added, 53 prone areas of PMKS in 2009 spread in Matraman interception, Jalan Pramuka interception, Coca Cola interception, Kelapa Gading interception, TMII interception, Jl Fatmawati interception and Mampang Kuningan interception.

801 PMKS in East Jakarta Netted

For that, Masrokhan continued, his side cooperated with City Police (Polda Metro Jaya) in handling this matter. The cooperation is set out by signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) which aims to synergize the programs and early PMKS handling.

With this cooperation, the PMKS which had netted and found again in the street will be punished by criminal sanction. "There are fingerprint. It's not our domain if they go back to the street, but already noted as a crime under fraud article," he added.

According to him, his side also deploys team to monitor PMKS in each prone areas. Later on, the netted PMKS will be immediately sent to rehabilitation center to get training. So, they will have skill and it is hoped they will not go back to the street.
