No Car Free Day on October 26

The Jakarta Marathon 2014 event is held again on upcoming Sunday (10/26). As much as 14,120 runner have signed up to join the annual event. To success the event, Car Free Day (HBKB) held every Sunday is dispensed a while.

Head Operational of Jakarta Transportation Department, Syafrin Liputo said so. "HBKB dispensed on Sunday (10/26). It is for this week only," said Syafrin, Friday (10/24).

The elimination of car free day is based on last year experience. On that time, car free day was held together with the Jakarta Marathon. As a result, the citizen activity in car free day was limited and feared to disturb the runner concentration."We eliminate it this year to keep the runner concentration," he added.

West Jakarta Alternative Road Closed During Jakarta Marathon

As known, car free day is conducted every Sunday on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin. The activity is held to give the Capital Citizen to do activity and exercise.

Besides, with car free day, it is expected the Capital air quality is going better. This activity conducted from 6 AM to 11 AM.
