Water channel on Jalan Kemang Raya, Bangka Urban Village, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, are being normalized to anticipate inundation in rainy season.

Mampang Prapatan Sub-district Head, Djaharuddin mentioned, normalization is carried out by Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Unit by dredging mud sedimentation from channel with size 1 meter width and 500 meters length.

"The mud is quite thick that makes the channel can't hold water when it rains with high intensity and for a long time. It is potential to cause water to overflow and inundate Jalan Kemang Ray," he explained, Tuesday (11/3).

In order to accelerate channel normalization work, his side deployed 10 Mampang Prapatan Sub-district SDA Unit personnel and Bangka Urban Village PPSU personnel to clean up water channels around the residential areas.

"We have started the work from yesterday. It can take 1 month to finish if the weather is good," he stated.
