10 Dorm Rooms & 2 Warehouses in Bintaro Burnt

Fire gutted at least 10 dorm rooms and 2 warehouses located at Jalan Perdagangan Dalam, RT 02/03, Bintaro Urban Village, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, Monday (10/27). There was no casualty in the incident, and the loss reached hundreds of millions rupiah.

We had difficulties to put out the flames because of there are many flammable items inside both warehouses

Zarkasih (45), a witness expressed fire broke out at around 10.45 AM from a dorm room. Due to strong winds, fire quickly burned other rooms and two warehouses owned by PT BTB.

As many as 18 fire trucks of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department deployed to put out the flames at the scene. Firemen then did localization to anticipate another fire. 

"We had difficulties to put out the flames because of there are many flammable items inside both warehouses," expressed Head of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Madani.

Madani disclosed another problem is distant water source. Thus the firemen have to connect the hose to several cars on Jalan Raya Deplu Raya as far as 700 meters.

"Water source is rare, that's why we had to connect the hose from Pesanggrahan River," he expressed.

Around 12.10 PM, they managed to put out the flames. "Currently, we're still cooling down the fire location. The fire itself is triggered by electricity short-circuit," he stated.
