Process of Mud Dredging Work at Menteng Pulo Phb Channel Reaches 50 Percent

South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency accelerates mud dredging work at Menteng Pulo Connecting (Phb) Channel, Menteng Atas, Setiabudi. Until today, the process of dredging work reached 50 percent from total length of 2.7 kilometers and width of 4 meters.

We need to dredge the mud since its thickness has reached 60 centimeters

Setiabudi Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Agus Bowo Leksono explained, Menteng Pulo Phb Channel crossed four RWs in the region, namely RW 09, 15, 14, and 07.

"We need to dredge the mud since its thickness has reached 60 centimeters," he conveyed, Tuesday (11/17).

Central Jakarta Continues to Optimize Flood Mitigation

Mud dredging on the channel has been carried out since January 2020. At the first phase, his side focused on channels located at RW 09 as long as 50 meters using heavy equipment. This time, dredging was done manually because the area cannot be crossed by heavy equipment.

"We deploy 5 personnel every day to dredge the channel using hoe," he added.

So far, he mentioned, mud dredging work has been carried out along 1.2 kilomters or nearly 50 percent. His side cannot predicted when his side will finish the dredging due to uncertain weather conditions.

"By dredging this channel, we hope it can accomodate more water, especially when rain intensity is high," he said.
