Thousand Islands Optimizes Anticipation and Handling of Tidal Flood

Standard operating procedures related to tidal flood disaster response villages in Thousand Islands have been prepared

The Thousand Islands Regency administration is about to take strategic steps to anticipate and overcome the impact of tidal flooding. One of them is by forming pilot disaster response villages for flood management.

"Standard operating procedures related to tidal flood disaster response villages in Thousand Islands have been prepared," expressed Thousand Islands Regent, Junaedi, after the executive meeting about tidal flood management with related regional apparatus organizations (OPD) at Mitra Praja Building, North Jakarta, Friday (11/20).

Tidal Floods Once Again Inundating Neighborhoods in North Jakarta

According to him, it would be made at the RW level that was prone to tidal flooding, like RW in Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district and in Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands Sub-district.

"Technically related OPDs will be involved for optimal handling when tidal flood occurs, including the existence of several early detection tools such as gauges of rainfall and wave height," he explained.

As for completeness related to logistics, posts, disaster-prone maps, community involvement, evacuation locations and others, he added, would be fulfilled after disaster response posts had been set up in each area.

"We will also intensify the disaster response training to reduce disaster risk by involving community elements," he stated.
