Fatahillah Museum Temporarily Closed for Renovation Work

Citizens’ enthusiasts to know history make Jakarta Provincial Government gives more attention to the cultural heritage area of Kota Tua, West Jakarta. One that gets the attention is the Jakarta Historical Museum, or commonly known as Fatahillah Museum, which currently under conservation and renovation process. To support the work that started on October 14 and targeted to finish early next year, the museum is now temporarily closed for visitor.

We predict the amount of Fatahillah Museum visitors would increase to 10,000-30,000 people after the renovation finished

Head of Fatahilah Museum, Enny Prihantini, said the museum conservation and renovation work costs Rp 20 billion. The work includes wall painting and porous plafond and wood repair in D and E zones. After the work, the amount of visitors is expected would increase significantly from usually 5,000-10,000 people on weekend.

“We predict the amount of Fatahillah Museum visitors would increase to 10,000-30,000 people after the renovation finished,” she stated, Monday (10/27).

Polluted, Monas Gold Gets Dull

Meanwhile, Martin (20), an Esa Unggul University student who came with five friends, had to back again because the museum was closed. He admitted did not know that the museum is under renovation.

“We didn’t know the museum is temporary closed due to under renovation. Indeed, the museum’s paint looks dull. Hopefully after the renovation the building would be prettier and the management would become more professional since this building is one of cultural heritage buildings,” he uttered.
