LH Agency Opens Padepokan Restu Bumi for Educational Tourism

Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency has an educational tourism site for the community 'Padepokan Restu Bumi', where visitors can learn urban farming and waste processing using bioconversion.

Learning outside the classroom like this is an effective way to introduce environmental care

Andono Warih, Head of Jakarta Environment Agency said the Padepokan Restu Bumi located in the Ciracas Environment Agency Housing Complex is an integrated environmental education center that integrates the reduction of waste at source and urban agriculture by implementing a circular economy cycle.

He explained, while playing, they could learn and practice planting trees, planting rice in the fields, caring for secondary crops, and planting hydroponics.

"They are also introduced to the black army fly maggot bioconversion as decomposers of organic waste as well as feeding fish with maggot," he explained, Sunday (11/22).

At the site, children could play without fear of getting dirty due to mud and would also be introduced to the journey of rice seeds into a plate of rice in a simple way.

"They need to be introduced to activities that care for the environment and wisely manage waste from childhood, so they play with maggots here. Learning outside the classroom like this is an effective way to introduce environmental care. Surely, by implementing health protocols," he stated.
