"Our preparation this time is more mature than before. You can see the sheet pile at Gunung Sahari and various ways that we have made for anticipating flood," expressed Acting Jakarta, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama, Tuesday (10/28).
525 Janitors Prepared to Anticipate Flooding in JakartaBasuki stated, one that has been done in flood handling is by constructing the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) phase A, including strengthening of the existing sea dikes in the northern coast of Jakarta.
Although there is still debate on the environmental impact analysis (Amdal) in term of the NCICD phase A, his party decided to strengthen the existing dike.
"By so, we do not need to argue about the Amdal and all sorts. We just focus on strengthening the sea, like Pantai Indah Kapok, Pluit and Muara Karang Housing Complex. Then we install them with pump. Currently the pump at the Fish Market has been operating. We just think about the reservoir, including Marunda," he said.
He uttered, Marunda reservoir will remain be built and continued with another construction in the northern coast of Jakarta.
"In Marunda, one (reservoir) has not been built and must be done soon. If the sheet pile has been built, Kampung Pulo will be free from flooding. I believe flood in Jakarta would last at least one day," he stressed.
Basuki asserted, to handle problem in the city, resident's role is needed, particularly those who live on the banks of river and reservoir. People affected the normalization project should be willing to be relocated to the flat.
"But I say, Jakarta people is quite smart anyway. So all will be safe," he uttered.
