Flood Handling in Central Jakarta is Targeted to Finished This Year

Flood handling in six priority areas in Central Jakarta is targeted to be completed by the end of this year. Those areas are Johar Barat, Karet Tengsin, Petamburan, Kebon Kelapa, Bendungan Hilir and Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Villages.

We hope all can be finished before the end of this year

Central Jakarta Secretary, Iqbal Akbarudin stated, his side gave serious attention to priority programs for flood handling in those 6 locations.

"If it finished after 2020 ends, then it will no longer be meaningful," he stated, Wednesday (12/6).

According to him, flood handling in six priority areas is done to face the peak of rainy season which estimated to occur in early 2021.

Thus he will evaluate all works carried out by Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency.

"If they lack of equipment, personnel, or have difficulty in reaching the location, we can help to resolve it. Importantly, it should finished by the end of this year," he stated.

Central Jakarta Assistant for Economy and City Development, Bakwan Ferizan Ginting mentioned, several priority programs for flood management have not been completed yet, including infiltration wells construction and pumps procurement.

"We hope all can be finished before the end of this year," he conveyed.
