City Accelerates Work to Expand Cemeteries' Capacity

Jakarta Government through City Park and Forestry Agency accelerates work to add new grave plots, especially for bodies of COVID-19 patients.

Total graves available in those three TPUs reach 4,838 grave plots

Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency's Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) Head, Ivan Murcahyo stated, his side has prepared 3 public cemeteries (TPUs), namely TPU Rorotan, TPU Tegal Alur on Jalan Sahabat, and TPU Bambu Wulung.

"Total graves available in those three TPUs reach 4,838 grave plots," he mentioned, Wednesday (1/27).

In detail, his side informed that TPU Bambu Wulung covers an area about 3,000 square meters with capacity of 800 grave plots.

"TPU Bambu Wulung has been used to bury bodies of COVID-19 patients since last Thursday," he added.

His side is currently preparing new grave plots in TPU Rorotan and TPU Tegal Alur. Later, TPU Rorotan will have capacity around 1,500 grave plots with area of 8,100 square meters. While 2,700 grave plots in TPU Tegal Alur with area of 1.3 hectares.

"We are targeting both locations to be used in February," he asserted.
