DPRD Urged to Induct Ahok

The Home Ministry asked the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) to immediately inaugurate Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama as Jakarta Governor. 

Home Minister, Tjahjo Kumolo disclosed that his party continues to coordinate with the city administration and DPRD regarding the inauguration of Basuki as Jakarta Governor. Besides oral, he stated, his party also has sent a letter to them in post-Joko Widodo's resignation.

Ahok Steps as Governor is Unstoppable

"Mr. Basuki's inauguration is scheduled by DPRD. We also have met DPRD Chairman at the office of Home Minister. We had communicated with Mr. Ahok, and now its decision lies in DPRD," he stated, Tuesday (11/4).

If he (Basuki) is not inaugurated, he uttered, it would interfere with the wheels of city government. Moreover, as Acting Jakarta Governor, his authority to take policy is very limited. 

"We just want the inauguration to be done soon, because his authority is very limited. That's why he better quickly inducted," he stressed.

As for the Vice Governor post, he furthered, should still wait for government regulation as a derivative of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (perpu) No. 1/2014. 

"The inauguration can be implemented while waiting for government regulation in term of vice election preparation. Although there is a fraction that is requested to wait before the Supreme Court decision, I think it can be run while waiting for the others," he exclaimed.
