Discourse of refusal against Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama who will be promoted as Jakarta Governor, could be beneficial for him. Even, he asked the Legislative Council (DPRD) not to hold a plenary session for his inauguration. By so, he could complete his duties as vice governor, where he also has a chance to run back in the Gubernatorial Election in 2017 and 2022.

"That's why I'm looking for a way how to promote myself again someday. I want the DPRD not to promote me as governor," said Basuki at City Hall, Wednesday (10/15).

He disclosed, as mandated by the Act, when he became Jakarta Governor less than 2.5 years, thus it will not be counted. "If I were Jakarta Governor less than 2.5 years, I could promote myself twice in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election," he expressed.

He explained if he was inducted as Jakarta Governor this year, he only has once opportunity in the upcoming election.

"That means I cannot run in the 2022 Gubernatorial Election. That's why I told my friends, so please don't inaugurate me. I just want to pass 2.5 years first as vice governor," he expressed.

Hence, Basuki prefers to continue to serve as vice governor or acting governor for the last three years. This is because, he wants to be re-elected as Jakarta Governor in the election in 2017 and 2022.

"If I was inducted as governor, it means 2.5 years of my reign counted one period. I don't want to control Jakarta for 7.5 years. If I were governor in the 2017 election, I still have chance to be vice governor in 2022 and may be elected, meaning I can serve governor for 12.5 years because after Mr. Jokowi inaugurated as president, and I become acting governor (which is no different than the governor)," he explained.
