Anies Affirms Jakarta Does Not Set Lockdown on Weekends

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan gave an explanation of the outstanding issues related to lockdown plan which is implemented during weekend in Jakarta. Anies denied the issue and emphasized that Jakarta Government has never planned or even implemented a weekend lockdown in Jakarta.

Jakarta doesn't plan to implement weekend lockdown policy

"Let me explain to you all about news circulating in recent days. Jakarta doesn't plan to implement weekend lockdown policy. That is a discourse which develops in society and media, but we are not in a position to consider, let alone impose lockdown on weekends," he asserted as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, on Friday (2/5).

Currently, Jakarta Government is still implementing Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) scheme in accordance with guidelines from central government for Enforcement of Restrictions on Public Activities (PPKM) which is planned to be extended again. As well as to ensure its implementation on the field runs well and orderly, not only for two day or a certain time.

City Closes Several Buildings After New COVID-19 Cases

"Restrictions on activities and health protocols should be always carried out by all of us, not only on weekends, not only at night. Virus continues to spread without knowing the time," he mentioned.

Therefore, again he reminded residents to implement 3M by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing their hands frequently with soap, and staying at home if there are essential needs. While Government will continue to improve 3T capacities, namely Testing, Tracing, and Treatment.

Reviewing the spike in cases which previously occurred after long weekend, he emphasized that cases will always increase within the next 1-2 weeks. Moreover, we will soon enter long weekend for Chinese New Year celebration.

"Thus I urge residents for not traveling out of city, refrain from visiting crowded places, and stay at home as much as possible when there is no essential needs. This is important to keep active cases from growing. Let's protect ourselves and our environment by implementing 3M," he stated.
