Used Clothing Vendors Back to Occupy Pasar Senen Sidewalks

Although officers had evicted street vendors at several sidewalks, Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, yet they recklessly back to set up their kiosks. The existence of vendors dominated by used clothing has clearly been disturbing road users and made site looks dirty and slum.

Talk about raid, it is easy but it does not warrant them (street vendors) not to sell there anymore

As quoted by beritajakarta.com, almost all sidewalks at Pasar Senen occupied by hundreds of used clothing vendors, starting from Jalan Pasar Senen, opposite of Transjakarta bus stop until bus terminal entrance.

Street Vendors Need Place to Move from Kota Station

Besides dirty and slum, the condition also causes traffic congestion because of many people park motorcycle haphazardly for shopping.

Head of Central Jakarta Satpol PP, Yadi Rusmayadi expressed Satpol PP officers routinely safeguard the Pasar Senen from street vendors activity. This is because they have violated the Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order.

"Since morning until 3 PM, the Pasar Senen is always safeguarded by officers. Supposedly, this is the authority of sub-district head to find solution. Talk about raid, it is easy but it does not warrant them (street vendors) not to sell there anymore," he exclaimed, Saturday (11/8).

According to him, his side had held raid against street vendors massively in such area at the beginning of Juny. As a result, the site looks clean and orderly from street vendors.

Unluckily, Head of Senen Sub-District, Lola Lovita cannot be confirmed regarding this matter when being contacted via cell phone.
