Jakarta Must Ideally Have 20 Double-Decker Buses

It is been almost ten months, the double-decker city tour bus operate in Jakarta with a high level of people interest. Unfortunately, its existence does not supported by an adequate amount of buses.

Currently, we only have 15 double-decker buses with 300 seats. There are about 3,000 people who ride it every day. I think we have to add about 15 units

Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman stated people interest in using the double-decker city tour bus is high during the holiday weekend, especially at recreational sites such as National Monument (Monas).

Jakarta Gets 59 New Double-Decker Buses

"Yes, we realized it. People interest to ride the double-decker bus is high during weekend, especially at the Monas," he stated, Saturday (11/8).

He disclosed that the existing five double-decker fleets is still not capable to accommodate passenger on weekend. Ideally, the bus fleet should be added at least 15 units. "Currently, we only have 15 double-decker buses with 300 seats. There are about 3,000 people who ride it every day. I think we have to add about 15 units," he expressed.

He added, those buses should be placed at every route. By so, the bus arrival can be managed per 10 minutes. "Each route must have 5 fleets. Thus we could manage its arrival time per 10 minutes," he exclaimed.

Budhiman continued, his department will recommend such evaluation results to PT Transjakarta for further follow-up. This is because, starting next year, the procurement and management of the double-decker bus would be transferred to the PT Transjakarta. "Our evaluation results will be sent to PT Transjakarta, because double-decker bus procurement will be delegated to them next year," he finished.
