Japanese Ambassador Gives Awards to MRT Jakarta

Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji, conferred the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award, on Thursday (3/11). The award was directly received by PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, William P Sabandar.

Hopefully the MRT track extension in the future will increase the convenience of transportation

It was given for the success of MRT Jakarta in creating an integrated transportation system that helps community mobility and lifestyle changes through the Phase 1 construction with Lebak Bulus - Bundaran HI corridors.

Kenji admitted that he was impressed as the station and MRT were very clean and comfortable. He was also happy as Japan could help realize the MRT which is currently the pride of the Jakarta people.

"Hopefully the MRT track extension in the future will increase the convenience of transportation," he expressed.

PT MRT Jakarta President Director William P Sabandar welcomed the cooperation that had existed so far and appreciated the Japanese Government's support for the presence of the MRT in Jakarta.

"Phase 2 project is still under construction and we hope to change the culture of public transportation in Jakarta," he stated.

As for the information, the award was given through Mr. Kenji's visit some time ago that began with a trip from the Bundaran HI Station to Senayan Station.
