Urban Villages and Sub-districts Heads in Central Jakarta Asked to Intensify Fire Socialization

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sudin has instructed all heads of urban villages and sub-districts in the region to intensify fire socialization to the residents.

He assessed that it is important for urban village and sub-district officials to socialize residents about fire prevention and handling because many areas in Central Jakarta are still prone to fire. For information, 84 houses in 4 locations were burned down in the last week.

"Urban village heads through RT/RW and community can do anticipatory measures. I have instructed urban village and sub-district heads to issue circular letter," he added, Monday (3/15).

Fire Prevention Keeps Being Socialized in North Jakarta and Thousand Islands

According to him, there are number of anticipatory measures that could be taken to prevent fires. Such as regularly checking electrical installations, not burning garbage, and not accumulating flammable items in the house.

"It should be done by all residents to anticipate fire," he asserted.

His side also instructed Central Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) and PT. PLN to socialize the residents.

"If necessary, they can inspect residents' houses related to illegal connection of electricity to prevent fire," he stated.
