North Jakarta Holds COVID-19 Vaccination for Religious Leaders

North Jakarta City Administration announced COVID-19 vaccination for religious leaders which held on 2nd Floor of Balai Yos Sudarso, North Jakarta Mayor Office, on Monday (3/15).

There are 30 people for each religion who participate in vaccination at North Jakarta Mayor Office

It marks the beginning of COVID-19 vaccination for religious leaders which is held simultaneously in all urban village health centers throughout North Jakarta. On this occasion, North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim encouraged all religious leaders and communities to fight COVID-19 together.

"Thank God the vaccination has went well, everyone is enthusiastic and all representatives of religious figures have been vaccinated. We tell them that after vaccination, we must convey our religious communities to work together to fight COVID-19 to save ourselves and our families," he stated, Monday (3/15).

North Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Yudi Dimyati mentioned, COVID-19 vaccination for religious leaders which held at North Jakarta Mayor Office was attended by representatives of religious figures from 6 religions, namely Islam, Catholicism, Protestantism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.

"There are 30 people for each religion who participate in vaccination at North Jakarta Mayor Office. The same vaccination is also carried out for religious leaders in each urban village health centers," he informed.

Around 20-25 North Jakarta Health Sub-agency officers were deployed for today's vaccination for religious leaders at North Jakarta Mayor Office today. This is the first dose vaccine, while the second will be given on March 29, 2021.

"We are targeting to vaccinate about 1,200-1,300 religious figures in North Jakarta. While target in each sub-district reaches about 200 people per day," he added.

His side coordinated with North Jakarta Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) to collect data of worshipers for this vaccination.

"Vaccination registration is through FKUB in North Jakarta, which collected by leaders of each religious assemblies. After the data is collected, it will be given to North Jakarta Health Sub-agency. Next, we will distribute it according to the location of worship places or religious offices," he mentioned.

He said that COVID-19 vaccination for religious leaders is very important considering that religious leaders are in contact with the community every day. According to him, vaccination is important to protect religious leaders as well as their families and community members.

Meanwhile, Hindu religious figure in North Jakarta as well as Advisor to Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia, I Gusti Made Dana expressed his gratitude for implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for religious leaders. Principally, Hindus support COVID-19 vaccination program held by government.

"I feel grateful with government assistance, namely COVID-19 vaccination. We (Hindus) strongly support the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccination is one of government's efforts to fight COVID-19 pandemic and we must support it. Hopefully, its implementation can run well," he said.

Abdul Hafidz Sahal, the representative from North Jakarta Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) also expressed his support for COVID-19 vaccination.

"I really support this vaccination. The service is good and the process is fast. After being vaccinated, I am also in good health. I have no complaints whatsoever. I hope vaccination for general public can be carried out quickly thus COVID-19 can be handled properly. Vaccination is the best solution in my opinion," he conveyed.
