Anies as Regional Advisory Council Chairperson is Committed to Advance Scout Movement in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan was officially appointed as Advisory Council Chairperson for Jakarta Kwartir Scout Movement in 2019-2024 by National Kwartir Scout Movement Chairperson, Komjen Pol. (purn) Budi Waseso at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/23).

In Advisory Council Management, Anies is accompanied by seven members, consisting of Regional Secretary, Maru llah Matali and his staff. After inauguration procession, Anies also inaugurated Jakarta Kwartir Scout Movement Board for service period 2019-2024, led by Fajar Pandjaitan.

He stated his commitment in advancing scout education in capital city as character education which is useful for practicing organizational skills from early age in school environment.

"We declare to continue and remain committed to advance Scouting movement in Jakarta. Moreover, we realize that in this country, Scouting movement is entering very important times, because we have entered a new phase in society in fighting the pandemic. We assess the scouting movement can be a spearhead in carrying out new habits. On this occasion, let us convey to all management members to maintain our serious attention in scouting field together," he conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

In addition, he also appreciated the progress of Regional Kwartir Scout Movement who still upholds Scout Promise and Code of Ethics by always being able to put themselves together in any difficult situation. It is because Regional Kwartir and all Branch and Sub-district Kwartirs are responsible to prioritize their main duties and function as administering non-formal education for children and adolescent in Jakarta outside home and school with high creativity despite all limitations.

"I ask all administrators of Regional Advisory Council and all ranks of Regional Kwartir at all administration levels to give their main attention to the process of organizing scouting education in New Era of New Habits which will soon be practiced in reality," he added.

Meanwhile, National Kwartir Scout Movement Chairperson, Komjen Pol (purn) Budi Waseso also conveyed that Jakarta has an important role in helping to advance scout when they enter the 60th anniversary of movement. It is because scout movement in Jakarta has a very vital role, marked by President Soekarno who handed over scout movement banner to Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono in 1961.

"I hope this spirit is in you to advance Scouting as non-formal educational organization and help to shape young people's character through scouting activities. Besides, your spirit to continue to serve endlessly in line with theme, which is dedicated scouts in entering new customs. I invited all to continue devoted endlessly according to our abilities," he mentioned.
