Three MRT Stations Provide Facilities for Non-folding Bike Users

PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta provides access facilities for non-folding bike users at Lebak Bulus Grab, Blok M BCA, and Bundaran HI stations.

They (users) can only use train number six in each series, and a maximum of four bicycles per departure

Each station also has temporary parking facilities at a number of points such as around ticket vending machines, toilets, and prayer rooms.

PT MRT Jakarta President Director William P Sabandar disclosed it is only available outside of peak hours at 7 AM to 9 AM WIB and 5 PM to 7 PM.

"They (users) can only use train number six in each series, and a maximum of four bicycles per departure," he expressed, Wednesday (3/24).

At this time, he explained, a bike lane is already provided on the station stairs and there are sign stickers on the stations and trains to support passenger comfort in using non-folding bike facilities.

"This facility has gone through an in-depth study and involved a number of related parties such as the Bike to Work community and the ITDP. It has also gone through a series of tests to ensure the assurance of security, safety, and customer comfort," he explained.

Certainly it was inaugurated by the Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan today. Even a number of inputs were shared, such as adding signage, queuing places, and socializing to the public.

"So far he was satisfied with this facility and urged that its implementation can involve suggestions from the public and continue to improve the convenience of MRT users," he closed.
