Kampung Pulo Submerged Around 1.5 Meter

Dense population residential in Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta is submerged by the flood. The flood which drown thousand houses in 7 RWs and 47 RTs was caused by the Ciliwung River overflow after the heavy rain in Jakarta and Bogor since Monday (11/10) yesterday.

The flood came to citizen house, Tuesday (11/11) around 2 AM at daybreak. Until 10 AM, the water level reached 1.5 meter. But there was no citizen been evacuated yet. They remain stayed at their attic.

Rizky (30), the RT 03/03 Kampung Pulo citizen said, the flood started drown the house around 2 AM. It was 20 centimeter at that time. But the water level increased progressively. The highest was around 5 AM, the water level reached 1.5 meter.

Jakarta Gears Up to Apply Flood Prevention SOP

"It was announcement yesterday warned the citizen that flood will hit the area. It's routinely occurred every year," he said, Tuesday (11/11).

So far, there is no residents were evacuated. Residents still run their usual activities. They use rubber boat for mobility.

Deputy of Jatinegara Sub-district, Manson Sinaga, explained the flood hit in radius of 15 meter from Ciliwung river. There are 1,508 families or 3,427 people are affected the flood.

"We prepare shelter for refugee if they need it in Kampung Melayu Urban Village office and Sub-dept. of Health office," he explained.
