Water Channel Development on Jalan SMPN 126 will Be Realized Soon

The East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency, socialized the plan to build a 473-meter long water channel on Jalan SMPN 126 Tengah Urban Village, Kramat Jati, on Monday (5/3).

We need improvement to anticipate inundation at a later time

The socialization held at the Dahlia RPTRA was attended by 30 people from RT/RW caretakers, LMK, FKDM, City Council, Satpol PP, SDA Sub-agency, contractors, supervisors and Bimaspol.

Drainage Development and Improvement Division Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri disclosed that it was held in order to smoothen the project work considering the work site had four buildings standing on the channel. That was why it should be discussed first with locals.

East Jakarta to Develop Eight Channels Soon

"This project was actually filed by locals, but still needs to be socialized thus they are not surprised when the work begins," he said.

According to him, it would be executed on May 27 and would take place at least three months. At the site, there would be U-Ditch installation measuring 80x80 cm, including box culvert measuring 100x100 cm.

Tengah Urban Village Head, Tarmiji explained that the current channel was not up to standard. No wonder no wonder this condition often caused inundation as deep as 7 cm during heavy rains.

He continued, of the total length of the drains of about 900 meters that were approved for normalization was 473 meters long. It is hoped that the rest would be done again in the following year.

"We need improvement to anticipate inundation at a later time," he stressed.

At the same time, RW 03 Chairman, Muhammad Iji positively welcomed the plan. He assessed, it was the hope of the citizens for a long time.

"We thank you, as the channel construction proposal has been approved. Hopefully this can solve the inundation problem in our neighborhood," he closed.
