Prediksi Puncak Musim Hujan Meleset, DKI Batal Pakai TMC

City Cancels the Use of Weather Modification Technology

To face the rainy season this year, Jakarta Provincial Government’s plans on using the Weather Modification Technology (TMC) is likely cancelled. This is because the prediction of the peak of rainy season which forecasted to happen in this month is missed.

According to BMKG forecast, the peak of rainy season in Jakarta would happen around January-February 2015

“According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast, the peak of rainy season in Jakarta would happen around January-February 2015,” stated Head of Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD), Bambang Musyawardana, Sunday (11/15).

Whereas, Musyawardana continued, the budget to rent the plane and technology which owned by the Technology Research and Application Board (BPPT) was already budgeted in the 2104 City Budget (APBD) in the amount of Rp 20 billion.

“Meaning, the budget that we had prepared can no longer be used again because its budget year has passed. If we insisted on using the budget, I could be jailed,” he said.

According to Musyawardana, the budget is now transferred to emergency budget post. Thus, it will be used whenever there is emergency situation, such as to help the flood victims in Jakarta.

“If the governor declared an emergency situation, we’ll use the money. If not, we won’t use it. So, its usage is absolutely on call,” he uttered.

Even though not using TMC, Musyawardana is optimistic that his party is more prepared in anticipating flood this year until the peak of rainy season next year.

“We have trained hundreds of officers to evacuate flood victims. So, we are ready,” he asserted.
