Ancol IPA Provides Clean Water to Local Residents

Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency built Ancol Water Treatment Plant (IPA) on Jalan RE Martadinata, Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan Sub-district, North Jakarta, to support clean water supply for local residents.

Treated water has gone through laboratory test

Jakarta SDA Agency's Clean Water Control and Supply Section Head, Glenn Santista mentioned, Ancol IPA was built using City Budget (APBD) 2020.

"The construction work has started in 2020 and it has been handed over on January 28, 2021," he informed, Monday (5/24).

According to him, Ancol IPA has capacity 5 liters per second with water source from Ancol River. Water from Ancol IPA is distributed to water kiosks in Ancol and Pademangan Barat Urban Villages.

"Treated water has gone through laboratory test and has met Quality Standard for Sanitation Hygiene, Permenkes RI No. 32/2017 with testing method according to Indonesian National Standard," he conveyed.

He explained that clean water produced from IPA is stored in ground tank with capacity 72 cubic meters and distributed to water tank with capacity 10 cubic meters which equipped with automatic sensor.

"Meanwhile, raw water is stored in a pond with capacity 44.5 cubic meters," he said.

So far, he added, clean water service coverage in Jakarta has only reached 60 percent. It means, there are still 40 percent of total population, especially in West Jakarta and North Jakarta, who don't have access to piped clean water service.

"That is why we built Ancol IPA as Jakarta Government's Clean Water Development and Management program," he stated.
