Water channel construction progress on Jl. Raya Setu-Cilangkap, Cilangkap Urban Village, Cipayung, East Jakarta has reached 30 percent. Two heavy equipment were deployed to speed up the construction.

This project is targeted to be competed in 2.5 months

Based on observation on the field, those two heavy equipment are mini backhoes which only operated at night. During the day, work is carried out manually. They excavate and install U-ditch concrete with simple tools.

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency's Drainage Improvement and Construction Section Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri stated, there were 2 contractors who carried out the channel construction work.

Each constructions build channel as long as 943 meters and 772 meters with depth 1-1.5 meters. They used U-ditch concrete with various sizes between 60,80, 100, to 120 centimeters.

"This project is targeted to be competed in 2.5 months. Current progress has touched about 30 percent," he said, Thursday (6/3).

He informed, road access to the site is only 4-5 meters wide, thus dump truck that transport excavated soil have to pass alternately.

"Every day we dispose excavated soil thus it doesn't pile up on the roadside," he mentioned.
