Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency held a Simultaneous Planting Activity to commemorate World Environmnet Day 2021. This event was participated by 1,313 people.
Number of locations where Simultaneous Planting Activity is held is increased from previous year
Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head (Plt), Suharini Eliawati conveyed, this event was held simultaneously in 184 locations in five municipalities and Thousand Islands Regency. Besides, there were 26 participants from outside of Jakarta.
"Number of locations where Simultaneous Planting Activity is held is increased from previous year with total 92 locations. It means, people's interest and enthusiasm for urban farming by utilizing their environment and surrounding space continues to increase," she mentioned at Jakarta KPKP Agency Office, Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya, Central Jakarta, on Friday (6/4).

For information, this year's event raised a theme of 'Urban Farming for Food Security'.
"This activity is not limited to agriculture, but also fisheries and animal husbandry. In this event, we cultivate vegetables, fruits, medicinal herbs, chili, hydroponic, tabulampot (fruit plant in pot), ornamental plant, mangrove, and fish," she explained.
The Simultaneous Planting Activity was held in form of collaboration to develop urban farming in Jakarta, as well as to preserve environment through efforts in achieving food security independently.
Urban farming is not only limited to agricultural lands, but it can also use other lands owned by community, government, and private sectors in Jakarta.
"KPKP Agency is ready to provide assistance and facilities, both in form seeds and assistance for residents who need it," she closed.
