Jakarta Promotes Theme 'Jakarta Awareness of Waste' on World Environment Day

The Jakarta administration is about to carry the theme "Jakarta Sadar Sampah" (Jakarta is Aware of Waste) in World Environment Day, which is commemorated every 5 June.

This theme was raised as efforts to handle and reduce waste from sources are one of the efforts to restore the earth's ecosystem

Jakarta Environment Agency Acting Head, Syaripudin said the theme for World Environment Day was "Ecosystem Restoration". While Jakarta had a special theme "Jakarta Aware of Waste".

1,313 People Participate in Simultaneous Planting Activity

As a series of activities, he detailed, Jakarta had carried out a trial of scheduled waste sorting and transportation in 147 pilot RWs on June 1.

"We also hold technical guidance on handling marine debris with pyrolysis technology on June 3. There will also be a free emission test on June 5," he explained.

He added the city would also hold a blackout action as a concrete action to save energy on World Environment Day.

"The peak of World Environment Day commemoration will be held online and in person at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, June 5, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, ending with a blackout. Online participants may access the link bit.ly/hlh2021," he stated.
