MRT Jakarta-JIEP will Build TOD in Pulogadung Industrial Area

PT. MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) cooperates with PT. Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP) to construct transit oriented development (TOD) and MRT Jakarta depot in Pulogadung industrial area.

We are agreed to cooperate for utilizing and developing the area

This cooperation includes providing part or all of the land to build one MRT Jakarta depot, especially on the east-west line or Kalideres to Ujung Menteng corridors. Including development of transit-oriented areas in several locations within the area.

PT. MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar conveyed, this collaboration was carried out to realize an integrated transportation system in Pulogadung industrial area.

"It is a part that should be completed in MRT Phase 3 construction through various steps that can be worked on together and we are agreed to cooperate for utilizing and developing the area," he mentioned, Wednesday (9/1).

From the previous Phase 1 construction, he considered that MRT increases the value of area which created multiplier effect not only in terms of economic development of an area, but also other benefits that can be felt by government and the community.

"In planning for MRT Jakarta line development from East to West corridor along 31 kilometers, we divided it into two segments. Segment 1 is along 20 kilometers and 11 kilometers for segment 2 that connecting Kalideres and Ujung Menteng," he explained.

PT. JIEP President Director, Landi R. Mangaweang added, this cooperation is in line with Pulogadung industrial area development master plan.

"In the future, Pulogadung industrial area will be an area filled with several activity centers or hubs, as well as modern facilities and infrastructure such as condominiums, rusunawa (public housings) and even the largest green open space in Jakarta," he expressed.

He hopes this collaboration will optimize contribution to economic development of Pulogadung industrial area and provide benefits for the community. Moreover, it is planned that later the integrated transportation mode will facilitate workers, tenants, and investors to access Pulogadung industrial area.

"Later it will be developed well by PT. JIEP and PT. MRT Jakarta (Perseroda). Hopefully this collaboration can run well," he said.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo gave his support and appreciation for the collaboration. According to him, Jakarta is intensively building transportation system that is integrated with spatial planning which makes rail transportation as the backbone.

"This collaboration is certainly a good start. I hope that, while developing the area, PT. JIEP and PT. MRT Jakarta can immediately coordinate and build synergy to follow up MoU signing with planning which is being prepared by Ministry of Transportation thus the area can be transit-oriented development area," he conveyed.

For information, MoU signing related to cooperation between PT. MRT Jakarta and PT. JIEP for Jakarta MRT depot and transit-oriented area construction in Pulogadung industrial area was carried out on Tuesday (8/31).

MoU was signed by PT. MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar and PT. JIEP President Director, Landi R. Mangaweang at PT. MRT Jakarta Headquarter, Wisma Nusantara Building, Central Jakarta.
