Mud Sedimentation Dredged From Stilling Basin on Jalan Kyai Tapa

Grogol Petamburan Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Unit, West Jakarta dredged stilling basin on Jalan Kyai Tapa. Total 3,500 sacks full of mud or equivalent of 21 cubic meters of mud were successfully transported from the location.

Grogol Petamburan Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Agus stated, stilling basin is important to hold water discharge from channels thus later it can be pumped into the rivers.
"This stilling basin covers an area of 25x8 meters with depth of 4 meter. Dredging is conducted manually using hoes, digging fork, and others," he said, Tuesday (9/7).

ally because its location was right under flyover. It was difficult to mobilize heavy equipment to the location."We drain it first by pumping the water to Sekretaris River. After that, mud is dredged manually by 14 Grogol Petamburan SDA Unit personnel," he informed.
Thickness of mud sedimentation in stilling basin also reached 80 centimeters. Dredging has been carried out since mid-August and targeted to be completed next week.
"After dredging stilling basin, we hope it can hold more water discharge in order to overcome inundation in the surrounding area," he conveyed.
