Public Market to Facilitate Street Vendors Inaugurated in 2015

To facilitate street vendors (PKL) in the capital, five public markets will be inaugurated by Jakarta Provincial Government. The target is in early 2015.

Those five public markets are, Manggis Market, Kebon Bawang Market, Pesanggrahan Market, Nangka Bungur Market, and Kampung Duri Market. Told Djangga Lubis, PD Pasar Jaya Director.

"For Manggis Market, the traders have been relocated inside the market. We wait for inauguration by the governor . While the 4 others are targeted to complete in April. It is the confirmation from Ahok," said Lubis at City Hall, Wednesday (11/26).

At the Nangka Bungur Market and Kebon Bawang Market, the process is still in foundation construction while Pesanggrahan market still in second floor construction.

Different from other markets, Kampung Duri Market yet constructed due to change of road construction. For that, his side has coordinated with Jakarta Building Monitoring and Control Department related to the road construction.

These markets are different from usual market. Lubis continued, this markets are built to facilitate the street vendor around the market and raise the environmental friendly concept.

There is no kiosk or building rent fee, but the traders should pay security, cleanliness, electricity and operational retribution.
