Starting October 3, Traffic Engineering on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai will Be Implemented

Traffic engineering on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Klender, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta will be implemented starting Sunday (10/3). It is carried out in conjunction with commencement of connecting (Phb) channel and crossing channel construction along this road.

Private vehicles, Transjakarta, and public transportation can still pass on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai through Transjakarta corridor

Traffic engineering scheme on this route had been discussed in coordination meeting led by East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, this Thursday (9/30).

This meeting was also attended by Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, East Jakarta Satwil Lantas, Jakarta Transportation Agency, East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, Bina Marga Sub-agency, Duren Sawit Urban Village Head, Klender U rban Village Head, contractors, and other related parties.

Anwar said, in ths meeting, it was agreed that road closure and traffic engineering on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai would begin on Sunday (10/3).

"Because Sunday morning, the construction work will start until about the next 2.5 months," he mentioned.

During the construction, he explained, there will be 99 joint personnel from Police, Transportation Sub-agency and Satpol PP who will guard the location. They will work in three shifts per day.

"Personnel on the field are very necessary to break down traffic congestion. Besides, it is also necessary to build safety fence along the project site and install lights thus drivers can drive safely and comfortable at night," he stated.

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Dody Setiawan conveyed, traffic engineering scheme has been made but has not been signed by Jakarta Transportation Agency Head.

He said that in the traffic engineering scheme, it was agreed that heavy vehicles with tonnage more than 5,500 tons are prohibited from crossing the project site. While vehicles from the west will be diverted at Klender Intersection to Jl. Pahlawan Revolusi, Jl. Kolonel Sugiono, Jl. Raden Inten, and Jl. RS Soekamto.

If vehicles want to cross Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai again, then at McDonald Duren Sawit Intersection, turn left to go to Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

"Traffic engineering for heavy vehicles will be applied at 04:00-22:00 every day. Especially for private vehicles, Transjakarta, and public transportation can still pass on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai through Transjakarta corridor," he added.

In order to support traffic engineering, PMI post will also be open around 50 meters from U-turns near the site. His side has prepared personnel to guard the area.

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Santo conveyed, on Friday (10/1) night, two heavy equipment will be deployed to the location. Then on Saturday (10/2) night, joint meeting will be held on Saturday (10/2) night on the location led by East Jakarta Vice Mayor, Hendra Hidayat and Sunday Morning at 07:00, excavation process will be started on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai along 878 meters. Phb channel will use box culvert with size 2.5 x2.5 meters and crossing channel using precast concrete pipe size 1.5 x 1.5 meters.

"Construction will be carried out 24 hours a day thus it will be completed according to schedule. Excavation starts from Tegal Amba Phb Channel bridge to Buaran Transjakarta Bus Stop," he closed.
