PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has said they are optimistic to complete the construction of the Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) in Sunter. Hence, they are now preparing the pre-construction through its subsidiary, PT Jakarta Solusi Lestari (PT JSL).
ITF Sunter is one of the solutions and priorities for Jakarta to solve the waste problem
ITF Project Director, Aditya Bakti Laksana asserted, ITF Sunter is the right waste management solution for the capital city and the residents of Jakarta, supported by tested, modern and very environmentally friendly technology. In fact, it will be able to process 2,200 tons/day and can reduce 30% of waste, which is sent to Bantar Gebang Landfill every day.
"That's why, ITF Sunter is one of the solutions and priorities for Jakarta to solve the waste problem," he expressed, as q
uoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.PT. Jakpro is Committed to Finish ITF ProjectBased on Beritajakarta.id report gathered, the waste heap in Jakarta has reached approximately 7,800 tons/day and all waste is sent to Bantar Gebang Landfill every day. Hereby, ITF Sunter needs to be supported as a waste solution in Jakarta, moreover the success of the ITF was a barometer for other cities to follow.
ITF Sunter with tested and modern technology and has been widely used in developed countries in the world, is designed to be able to destroy and reduce the volume of waste 80% to 90% with Euro 5 emission standards and generates 35 MW/hour of electrical energy. It is a form of change in perspective because in fact waste is a productive material in a circular economy.
This project is the mandate of the Jakarta administration to Jakpro through Gubernatorial Regulation number 33/2018 on Advanced Assignments in the Implementation of ITF. It is the largest waste management in Indonesia that produces electricity with proven, modern and eco-friendly waste processing technology.
"Jakpro and PT JSL are about to soon start pre-construction work at the end of this year. Hopefully, the project runs smoothly and becomes a solution for the capital city and the its residents," said Aditya," he explained.
Aside that, he also invited residents to collaborate and contribute in solving the waste problem in Jakarta. It could be started with awareness in reducing the use of single-use plastics and sorting waste from home.
Mounting garbage can be avoided by implementing a circular waste economy. It can be beneficial for the economy and waste that is disposed of in final disposal can be minimized. Proper waste management can be a solution to several problems, such as the environment, health, to a solution to get added value from the waste that is produced every day.
