Anies Hopes Bantargebang TPST Can Reduce the Impact of Environmental Damage

Jakarta Government collaborates with Bekasi Government regarding land use improvement for Final Disposal Site (TPA) into Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) in Bantargebang. It is carried out because the previous cooperation agreement will expire on October 26, 2021 and will be extended for the next five years.

This cooperation has been extended because as neighboring regions, we should collaborate with each other

On this occasion, Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan and Bekasi Mayor, Rahmat Effendi symbolically signed the cooperation, which was also witnessed by Regional Administration Development Director General of Ministry of Home Affairs, Syafrizal at Jakarta City hall, Central Jakarta, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Monday (10/25).

Anies welcomed the extension of this cooperation agreement because it could make the two 'neighboring' regions to carry out collaboration. In addition, it can also bring many benefits to residents in each regions.

"This cooperation has been extended because as neighboring regions, we should collaborate with each other. It can be done by utilizing region's potentials in meet all the needs. This time, we hope the extension period of Bantargebang TPST can be a long-term solution while reducing environmental impact around," he conveyed.

He hopes the cooperation will be not only a ceremonial signing, but also a culture that indicates that each regions have been integrated socially, culturally, and economically.

"If citizens are willing to collaborate, the government must also collaborate. Hopefully it will make the collaboration with Bekasi become more solid. We appreciate the support from Bekasi Government, because they are willing to help us in Jakarta in alleviating waste problem. Thank you to Director General of Regional Administration of Ministry of Home Affairs for facilitating this agreement," he added.

For information, the scope of cooperation with Bekasi Government includes compensation funds; revision of RKL/RPL Amdal document; assessment of environmental carrying capacity and support; waste transportation route and time; waste disposal and collection; waste reduction technology innovation; and process of terminating Bantargebang TPST of Bekasi City.

Meanwhile, the scope of compensation in this agreement includes: Environmental Damage management; Environmental Recovery; Health and Medical Expenses; Compensation in other form or direct cash assistance; Direct Cash Assistance and Death Insurance (policy) for residents affected by Bantargebang TPST; and others.
