The program to tackle the pile of garbage and extend the useful life of the Bantargebang Landfill is one of the priorities of the Jakarta Provincial Government. In 2019, the Jakarta Environmental (LH) Agency made collaboration with the Center for Environmental Technology (PTL) and the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) in the Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) pilot project at Bantargebang Landfill and had inaugurated the PLTSa under the name Red-white PLTSa.
Based on the number of operational days of synchronization with the turbine, the total electrical energy produced reaches 783.63 MWh or around 110.59 kWh/ton of burned waste
This effort also aims to encourage the use and development of waste management innovations to produce electrical energy.
Jakarta LH Agency Acting Head Syaripudin revealed, last year, the red-white PLTSa had operated for 221 days and processed 9,879 tons of waste with Fly Ash and Bottom Ash (FABA) which produced 1,918 tons.
HPSN, Anies Emphasizes Importance of Waste Management in RW Scope"Based on the number of operational days of synchronization with the turbine, the total electrical energy produced reaches 783.63 MWh or around 110.59 kWh/ton of burned waste. Last year, we produced 29,263 paving blocks and the average production per month was 3,658 pieces/month as the utilization of FABA," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
As for the information, the red-white PLTSa is the first PLTSa in Indonesia which is designed with an operating time of 24 hours per day and 250-300 days per year, using waste fuel with a capacity of 100 tons per day.
In the meantime, Integrated Waste Management Unit Head Asep Kuswanto,
with the PLTSa, it was hoped that the availability of alternative waste processing that could reduce waste significantly, quickly, environmentally friendly, and could generate electricity. Even, the community may also learn about thermal waste processing for implementation at similar large-scale waste processing facilities in the future.
"It is in line with the vision of Bantargebang Landfill, as a center for solid waste research and studies," he said.
