Jakarta has finally completed its ambitious climate action plan
At that time, he disclosed that Jakarta had taken its climate action plan seriously through Gubernatorial Regulation number 90/2021 on Climate Resistant Regional Low Carbon Development Plans. This regulation lays a solid foundation for implementing sustainable climate action in the future.
"Jakarta has finally completed its ambitious climate action plan. Through the regulation, this is as a stronger basis for implementing climate action, as well as efforts to carry out the grand mission of the C40 and to encourage the world's cities to complete their climate action plans," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's Press Release, Tuesday (11/2).
Anies Explains Jakarta's Strategies Towards Equitable Vaccination at C40 Mayoral WebinarHe then appreciated the role of the Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti as C40 leader who has given support in the formulation of climate action plans in Jakarta and other cities of the world, thus expanding the C40 network to more than 40 cities in the world. He also congratulated the London Mayor, Sadiq Khan for becoming the new chairman of C40 to further encourage cities around the world to contribute in climate change mitigation and adaptation actions.
"Jakarta gives appreciation to Mayor Garcetti who has expanded the C40 network to more than 40 cities in the world. We also believe, the new elected Chairman will continuously advocate for more cities to have more ambitious climate action plans and encourage the important role of cities in climate change discourse," he explained.
He went on to say that cities have a significant and vital role in the success of the global climate change mitigation and adaptation agenda to address the catastrophic impacts of climate change. Thereby the C40's contribution in the COP26 Summit is very important. Even the Governor filed 3 discussion agendas that could be submitted by the C40 network in the COP26 forum.
"COP26 is a highly strategic platform for world and city leaders to ensure that our voices will be heard. So, allow me to present three negotiation agendas for our network at COP 26," he explained.
"First, C40 needs to lead and encourage cities' efforts to take climate action at the national level, as reflected in each country's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). Second, it will also push for developing climate finance architectures that assist cities to implement their climate action plans. Third, let's encourage multi-level governance in cities that are able to develop cross-sectoral, cross-border, and cross-generational collaboration. Let's work together," he stated.
