In his remarks, Anies explained the condition of vaccination in Jakarta, where Jakarta Government is responsible for training vaccinators, maintaining cold chains, raising public awareness of COVID-19 vaccine, and ensuring mobilization of vulnerable groups to vaccine center.
Jakarta Government together with Health Ministry have targeted 8.8 million people in Jakarta for vaccination, plus 1.2 million workers from outside of Jakarta. While vaccination target for priority group is 3 million people which expected to be completed in June 2021. Other people will be vaccinated starting July 2021," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Thursday (3/18).
Furthermore, he also explained vaccination strategies carried out by Jakarta Government. Together with Health Ministry and private sector, Jakarta Government has initiated strategies for vaccination distribution program through collaboration with various parties through drive-thru vaccination, a shuttle service for elderly to the vaccination location; vaccination for traditional market traders; mass vaccination center held by State-Owned Enterprises; and utilizing all hospitals, health centers, schools, government offices, conference halls, and sports centers for vaccination.
"Our goal is to achieve 1,500 vaccinations a day, by implementing community-based vaccination for equitable vaccination (outreaching all groups). Thus we carry out several actions by mobilizing surrounding communities (RT/RW) and sending daily messages to inform vaccination targets," he conveyed.
In the closing, he emphasized Jakarta's commitment, which at the same time also encouraged other cities in the world, especially C40 members to support COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX), a global initiative aiming for equal access to COVID-19 vaccines which led by Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, WHO.
"We encourage other mayors and governors around the world to cooperate with WHO health emergency preparedness program for establishment of Global Cities Network for Health Emergency Preparedness," he stated.
"We in Jakarta will also support coordination for COVAX at global and national levels for effective distribution of vaccines, which is very important in order to realize common vision for equitable recovery process," he closed.
